COUNTY GRIND OUT WIN
HAVERFORDWEST bounced back from their opening-day defeat against Port Talbot to upset league champions Total Network Solutions with the only goal.
It was not all one-way and Haverfordwest keeper Carl Thomas was in action after 12 minutes when he tipped over a John Toner shot. But the visitors hit back and were ahead after 36 minutes following a somewhat hopeful ball lobbed into the TNS six-yard box. The defence failed to clear promptly and Chris Miller's persistence paid off, beating keeper Lee Williams at the third attempt.
Toner went close for TNS on the hour but soon afterwards Haverfordwest had the chance of another goal. A hesitant home defence opened up for Paul Burrows. He beat Williams but his shot flashed across the face of the goal, hit the far post and rebounded into the keeper's arms.
Toner created more scoring chances but was denied by Thomas, who held a fierce shot from the edge of the box.
