After starting his career with Wigan Athletic and playing for Leigh RMI, Congleton Town and St Helens Town, decided to study for a career in teaching and scored 30 goals in 80 appearances for Team Bath, helping them gain promotion to the Conference South. A member of the England Universities team that won the 2006 British University Games with a 100% record, he was awarded a two-year deal by Wrexham in the summer of 2008 but, after finding it difficult to break into the first team ranks at the Racecourse, was loaned to The New Saints in the summer of 2009.
